The jumping spider family (Salticidae) contains more than 500 described genera and over 5,000 species (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Species), making it the largest family of spiders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider) with about 13% of all species
Grabbed that little bit of info from wikipedia.
anyone know the exact species?
let us know
This little guy was sitting on a dandelion, and if you look closely you can see the reflection of the dandelion in the spiders eyes. at least two of them anyway lol

Hey Macro Junkie, I figured you knew what i was shooting with, as you were the one who told me about the MPE lens, as well as the MT24ex dual flash .
My camera is a 40D, and i shot this photo handheld out in my backyard.
Shutter speed was 1/197 , av f/11.3 , ISO: 100, with an auto white balance.
Sorry for not putting the info, im pretty new at posting over at macro forums.
Pm me if you want to know where you know me from.

Grreat detail but lighting looks a bit too harsh. I doubt you'll get an ID without posting a full body shot.

As Racketman says the light is a bit harsh but the reflection in the eyes of the first spider is wonderful :)

yeah not sure how i would go about fixing that lighting. He was sitting in a bunch of dandelions and the yellow from those, seemed to create this strange colour in the photo.
how would you have taken this shot differently?

you have harsh light because u havent defused your mt-24ex?am i right?
u fix the lighting by diffuse it with 2x gary fong diffusers.
