I am photographing my daughter's show choir concert and need some expert tips on aperture and shutter speed. I can get close enough for a flash but that will most likely darken the background more than I would like. Any tips?

I had to shoot a choir once, about 100 people.
The church had enough light for me not to use the flash at all.
The settings were: 1/100 sec, f5.6, iso 800. (Group shot)
Individual and close up shots, varied from 2.8 to 5.6 and mostly was the shutter speed that changed...
BTW: A tripod is a must for posed group shots... I also used a telephoto lens to give the most natural look possible.
Good luck!
