View Full Version : The difference the correct focusing screen makes

Just got in my Ec-b focusing screen (along with spare battery and hand strap)

Not sure exactly how the EC-b will affect WB (manual says it will) and autofocus , but I know it now makes it possible for me to correctly manually focus the camera and know I got it right.

If nothing else just being able to change the focus screen was worth the price of the 1DsMkII (okay maybe I am exaggerating a little, but it was one of the reasons I wanted a 1DsMkII instead of a settling for a 20D)

Trivia: Have I mentioned I now know how to put my hand straps on correctly (got to the correct page in my 1DsMkII manual (a page that is not in my D60 or 10D manual). Also have I mentioned I dislike neck straps as they get all tangled in my tripod and don't help one bit in holding onto the camera.

Those neck straps may get messed up with your tripod and they may not help you hold the camera any better, BUT, if you're leaning over the edge of a bridge or over a railing at the top of a cliff and trying to get a shot down at something way below, that little extra bit of insurance is certainly worth ALL the other inconveniences, in my opinion.

Did you know that Optech has a strap that has quick releases for tripod work.

And I'll second that! :D

Tim, let us know how you make out with the new focusing screen, especially with how much of the AE (in Eval mode) is affected by the microprisms. If worse comes to worse, you can always switch to CW Avg AE and work it the old fashion way. :)

Darn the emoticons have changed.
