Here is the wedding cake...it is really pixelated due to the fact that the conditions were unbearable to shoot in....it was extremely dark...I used 1600 - 3200 ISO....does this suffice for a good cake shot, even though it is really pixelated???

It's not pixelated; it has digital noise. No big deal to real photographers and clients, major offense to a pixelbator who only takes pics of boxes and batteries. You can use a NR program (or even DPP) to kill the color aka chrominance noise if you want...that's what makes it seem worse than it really is, in my opinion.

Or just do a B&W conversion.

Thanks CD! Do you like the BW or the Color rendition of the cake?

I don't really have a preference on cake shots.

I only have an old version of Photoshop 5 LE (light edition) at work but how about something like this?
Make the noise work for you. I got the idea from "Understanding Exposure" on how high ISO noise can be used for artistic effect. This was just a sepia-like conversion and then adding a light to vignette it.

I feel for ya. My last wedding reception was very dark and the walls were deep rosewood. The flash made everything come out rosy red! UGH!

This one looks good! It's a nice picture. Obviously they will want a cake picture. Next time I would take a closer look at the cake though... I know there wasn't a whole lot you could do about it but the beads are tucked in a little.

That is oh so true... get it printed and see if is really a problem.
Personally i think the B&W looks great... the grain adds to B&W.

It's crooked... and about to fall onto the table... I've got my plate and fork ready... Any time now... :p: lol::lol:
I like the conversions... The last ones bring out the best (of the cake shot)...
Noise Ninja is great.

What got my attention was the poor work on the cake, NOT the picture. (man i hope you didn't make the cake!) tcenter tear has a dent in it, the pearls on top of the bottom tear and covered, the bottom tear is whacked. So i'd say your pictures are good. The noise is much better in the pictures touched up. Id buy it if it was my wedding.

Noise Ninja, "daily multi-vitamin" and "amazing detail finder." The last two are a couple of Kevin Kubota's actions.
