Pekka,
At first glance and after spending a little time cruising around the new forum, I have to say that I really like it. lots of neat new features. Again, many thanks for all the hard work and please let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Thank god you're running Vbulletin. I run about 10 VBulletin forums. By far one of the best. Great choice!

yeah, just about every other forum I frequent runs VB and it was always alittle odd feeling for me when I'd be posting here. I'm glad everything is back up and running though :)

When replying, look at the editor up top, if you don't see the images etc, then goto you're USER CP, click EDIT OPTIONS, then scroll to the very bottom where you see Message Editor Interface
Select Standard editor insted of basic editor.
Hope that helps.

Yeah This new software looks pretty good! My profile was kinda screwed up though... it thought I was an Australian for some reason.... All sorted now I hope!
Smilies don't seem to work for me in the WYSIWYG editor though... I've tried it with Netscape and IE  They do seem to work if I type in the code for the smilie though.

I love it. With small tweaks here and there to iron out the move, this place will be better than ever.
Great work

I was an MD in Moscow for a little while, until I fixed my profile. Maybe I should have kept it. :)

Oh, and I like it as well. The color scheme isn't quite as nice as before, but I'm sure that that issue wasn't the top issue in Pekka's mind as he put this thing back together. That can be dealt with later on if it really bothers people, I suppose.
I like the new features. This software is known to be pretty durable so the site should work well with it.

Pekka,
Thanks for getting this forum up & running again, especially with the great new software.
This is one of the most enjoyable & valuable learning sites for me and your hard work is appreciated.

One suggestion though. Perhaps you can add a "forum jump" to the top of the page, so that it is not necessary to scroll down to the bottom.
Thanks

That is possible, but he would have to edit the templates in VBulletin. Just a pain in the ass if you ask me.

the forum jump is in vB3 (*edit* down at the bottom) and should be easy to move to the top, but not much need to...
I would love to assist in tweaking the forum out as far as the template goes...if I have the time, just got a new job this week

Bro, scroll to the bottom, Forum Jump has been in way before 3.0.... That guy wanted them up top instead.
I'm just saying it's a little time consuming. I edit all my templates in UltraEdit then just paste them back in.

Because you're not special. ;)
 Is not recognized even when you click the smilie.... Something is wrong with the Smilie permissions.

After getting used to it, I must say I really like the new forum! Some really nice features.
One thing that would be nice is if you could enter the quick reply at the bottom without having to first press"quick reply to this message" in one of the posts.
Ranger187
13th of December 2004 (Mon), 15:48
There is a drawback to that Drisley. Here is what it says in the Control Panel for VB about what you requested. I run many VB forums and advise against the not having to click it.....
"If you set this option to 'no', users will not have to click the Quick Reply icon in order to type a message in the quick reply box.
However, this will be at the expense of the usefulness of the Threaded and Hybrid view modes, as the system will not know to which post a user is replying, so the threaded view will become non-sensical.
Set this option to 'no' at your own discretion. "

Congratulations Pekka 'n all! You must have gone through hell with it all. OTOH, maybe it provided an impetus to clean house, streamline and update. I really like it!

Just found one thing I do like about the new software. And thats the avatars in the member list, that was not in the old software.

Tommy, the admin can customize that view and add more information to thae Members list as well. VBulletin is very configurable.
And John, most of the time you just use the convertor to import from a different forum so that is painless *usually*. What is the PITA is setting up the new layout(styles and templates) and making sure you keep the people happy after. Securing the server was a more painfull task if you ask me.
In any event, he has a great site.
