Just one for now... others are going into print rather than on the web first.

For those unaware, she's an Avro Vulcan ex-RAF bomber, the only airworthy example in the world, and pictured taking to the air on her penultimate test flight. More details on the project and how to donate to keep it going into the airshow circuit at www.tvoc.co.uk

Oh wow. I had no idea they actually got it flying! But then the last I heard of it was probably four years ago when they were talking about scrapping the idea from lack of interest and funding. My next door neighbour used to captain one of the V Bombers but I can't remember which one. It was either the Vulcan or the Victor. He went on to pilot 747s for British Airways and he's now retired. Interesting guy. I used to have looong chats with him about planes until I grew out of them and lost interest.

Amazing photo and it's good to see her off the ground :)
The engines look tiny from that angle, you'd almost think they were weedy if you didn't know any better :p

Good shot. What's the yellow crud in the background?
That's a staple crop in the UK at this time of year, Rape which is processed for Rape Seed Oil.
BTW Fantastic, have seen a lot of her from the ground, but that's something special. Got any more?

Hi Damien;
Excellent capture... I'm looking forward to seeing her on the airshow circuit...
Always was an impressive piece of kit...
Now, if only we can get a Victor back in the air again... and then a Valiant...
Cheers;

Wow... I didn't think those were still flying...
I remember going to an airshow when I was a kid and watching one of those do a vertical climb right above me. The sound shook me to the core. I loved it.

Excellent Shots Damien, looks like you had great access there! And I will echo the great efforts of all involved in getting this wonderful aircraft back into the air, and ready to display.
I am jealous of all you in the UK who will be able to see her this year as I am stuck here in the USA! But I am looking forward to seeing some great shots.

I am so hoping she makes to Jersey on Thursday the 11th, if the weather stays good at least I will get to her in clear skies not the grey crud at Farnborough :(
Just need to be sure I can get at least one good image of her as I will be FL challenged on this trip :D
PS I really like the silhouette and the Duxford image, well done.

I very seldom use the word "great" in replying to a series of images here or anywhere but it applies to these. It's been a pleasure to view this machine as well as your fine photos.

missed my op when it was meant to fly @ our first air show here for 18 years, but someone wouldn't sign it off as airworthy when it was! :( :(
