Hi all.

I can't get this color management stuff right - nothing seems to be logical here (or, at least what I've read on the Web). Here is what I do :

I have the latest profile of the printing machines from my printing lab, which is installed and set in "Proof setup" in PS. The working color space is "SRGB" - because it suits the vast majority of monitors out there. When I open the image in PS (to edit it for printing), I choose to convert it to the working space. Then, after getting the image right, I choose to convert it to the profile from the lab just before saving. But when I choose to view the "Proof colors" in order to check out how the colors would look like on the final print - the colors go completely mad !

What am I doung wrong ? :?

Is your monitor properly calibrated and profiled with a hardware calibration device? I'm using a Colorvision Spyder, but I remember that when I was using Adobe Gamma, I would get a heavy yellow cast when doing soft proofing.

On the following website you can read a number of articles about setting up colour management in Photoshop, how to use soft proofing etc.:

Thanks for the reply.

No, my monitor isn't calibrated (I need to replace it before I even get into all this color calibration and management business). I'll look into this link one more time later on today and see what will come out ...
