Ok folks, time to fess up. What did you do with all the spare time you had last week? How did you cope? Did you go out and buy a couple of new lenses like Pekka suggested? Take the family out to supper? Make snow angels in the snow? ( this doesn't apply to belmondo, hard to mke snow angels in sand.http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
I'll start:
Purchases, Canon Pixma 8500 and a 77 mm rubber lens hood. (don't ask about the rbber lens hood)
Went out to supper a couple of times and discoverd that I really do have a job!

I did take pics as I usually do, no dinner with family or buying lenses :(

I must confess to checking the page frequently to see how it was going.

I did get a new camera body, a couple lenses and a flash, but I actually ordered those before the down time. I used my free time to put them to good use, though!

Spent some time reading my manual. There is a lot of useful info in there... who knew??

Then spent a few days shooting stuff..

My 3 year old took a minute with the camera and took a picture way better than what I could accomplish, hence my first sentence http://photography-on-the.net/forum/images/smilies/icon_redface.gif

I actually got real work done at the office for a change! :D

I also found another good photo site/forum based out of Australia but nothing compares to POTN!

I got my 1DmkII back from service and I got to play with that a little although the weather's been crappy most of the past week. :(

But most of the time, I've been going batty waiting for POTN to come back online again. POTN is worse than getting addicted to drugs...I think ???!

I didn't realize precisely how addicted I was.

Yesterday however was my birthday - so the return of the forum was a nice b-day present. Of course the fact that my wife bought me the Tamron 28-75 that I'd been oogling might have helped too!

It's hard to get anything done when you're logging on every 5 minutes to see if the forum is up again. I wrote a script so that I could check every 2 minutes.

I went broke surfing the "buy & sell" forum at FM. :)

Actually, I spent a good deal less time on the forums and caught up on my sleep.

Well to start with I put Pekka Saarinen into Google and the results were enough to fill the gap! Amazing!

Spent time on FM, Galbrigth, DPreview and spent too much money$$$$$$$
New tracking 10" Meade telescope on a equitorial mount and a new DELL laptop to use a CCD with the new tele. Maybe before the winter is over I can get a few decent astro pic's and pay off the new toys. Just too much time on my hands

Been looking for a new electric guitar and amp online.
Also had this site in it's own browser with auto refresh set to 5 minutes...

Foretunately, I was away on business so I didn't have much of a chance to try during the day. It certainly made the evenings in the hotel pretty long without the board.

I spent some time on FM and Rob Galbraith. For humor I would read dpreview. They are just plain nasty on that one.

While I was away the rest of my tripod setup came in. The Kirk head is all that I was waiting for. I am done buying for awhile.

I bought a Mac Laptop to get back into Mac and also double as megaportable laptop. Other than that...waited for forum to come back up online.

This new software might take some getting used to, though.

Took it out for 2 weekends of shooting.... birds, butterfly and a gold game.... more coming...

Proud of the lens

proud of the results - shunningly sharp....

proud that I have finally made it to the L-club after over 15 years of dreaming (since the FD lens days, when i was in high school)

I actually went out and got my very best photo of a Western Burrowing Owl. The little thing just stood there, stared directly at the camera lens, and I got him from 18 feet away, perfectly filling the frame.

Got the 24-70 L (B&H - ground shipping and it came the next day) and ordered the 580EX (Dell, back-ordered to death). Also put up some more bookshelves (which kept me from actually getting to use the lens for real, not just stock test shots).
