I am using Photoshop Elements 6.0 and loaded my recent vacation photos. I am using a G9 and shooting RAW +JPEG. When I look at the thumbnails there is an appreciable difference in the color casts between the RAW and JPEG files. Should I do something to correct this?
Thanks for the help.

Probably Elements is applying the default adjustments to the RAW files. You'll have to make the specific adjustments you want - especially the white balance.

Not entirely unusual. The RAW files are exactly that. Unprocessed files with all the sensor can capture. There is no in camera sharpening or adjustments like the jpg files...

The jpgs are color processed in camera and sharpened. Not familiar with your camera but often you can adjust how the camera will manage jpg files.

Most RAW files will need post processing to refine.

an additional point... RAW file converters will try to apply a default correction before displaying a picture. You can't actually see a RAW file, so Elements is doing a conversion behind the scenes.

If you use the makers own converter program (for the G9 it's the module that comes with Zoombrowser), it will apply the same correction as the in-camera jpg, so they should look the same. When you use a 3rd party converter, the default may be different, as you describe, but you can easily make a correction to the WB in the converter to get the result you want.
