Sea Hawk

My daughters school had the Navy send over a SeaHawk to show the kids. I did not know it was comming so I was not prepaired. But managed to get a few shots...

They are part of VX-1 witch is the test group for the Navy the best I could tell mostly anti submarine stuff but evidently a lot of other stuff as well. All of the crew that came are lifers. Each with at least 2 tours in Iraq.

I might be left over from its maiden voyage. It is brand new. Not even 300 hours of fly time are on it yet.

When I was heading into Iraq I was invited to ride up in the cockpit of our C-130 to take photos. After seeing that I was not some yahoo with a point and shoot they let me stay up there for the full sunrise over that ****ty country, as well as our combat landing and taxiing. I took probably 400 photos in a span on 2 hours. I documented everything that I could, I am always diligent with security measures, so I never take photos of sensitive things. I took some photos of the pilots messing with throttles and flipping switches and cool stuff like that. I showed them to a PA I did some freelance stuff for, public affairs is like a military journalist, and she told me that I was not allowed to photograph military aircraft instruments.

So when I see that civilians are invited to do so, I get kind of mad that she made me delete them. Too bad the dumb broad didn't know that I had already backed up my library. Muwahahaha.

I think the difference is the instruments are not turned on when I took the shots. Now that so much info is on the screens, it is easy to hide it when they are turned off. I doubt I would have been able to take the shot with it running.
