Thought I would take a couple of photos during the Spring clean. (Any excuse to take a break from all that polishing!)

 Now thats a beautiful car..
edit: I thought it was a Diablo SV, so I had a look at the wonderful Wikipedia to find out for sure. It turns out its a Diablo GT, but does the car pictured as an example look familiar?

Don't know who put that picture on Wikipedia, but it wasn't me.

I'd like to see the same angle as the 2nd pic, but with the doors, boot and bonnet closed.

I have one similar, taken about two years ago. It wasn't quite so sunny then, and it was taken on a compact so the quality isn't so good, but I'll post it anyway.

Despite the differing number plate, it is the same car. The plate on this picture belonged to the previous owner, and was changed shortly after the photo was taken.

The Diablo SV was only available in the previous generation.
OP: GREAT shots, I love this Diablo... just not as much as the SV ;)

are you the guy who had a website about your car? i used to have a link to a guy with a lambo GT and he documented how he came about owning one (he had a countach before) and the expenses of having one....but his site doesn't work anymore i don't think.

Sorry for the lack of replies guys - I've been on holiday for the last week.
Not sure why someone was having problems with my website. I know it is long overdue for an update, which I will get round to, but it should still be there and working.
No room for adoptions at the moment , all I can do is keep posting photos for you.
As someone has correctly identified, it is indeed a GT and not a SV - much rarer and lots better, in my totally unbiased opinion! ;)
Thanks for all the kind comments.

have you had a chance to drive it around lately? what's the mileage on it now?
and... is it really expensive to keep them? ie have you changed the clutch yet? or wheels/tires? are they really expensive?
i've been looking at maybe getting a 2nd hand diablo in the next 5yrs but evo has a day to day report of the murcielago and the maintenance cost is scary! :-)

It's proving to be cheaper to keep going than the Countach I used to have. The CT always had a list of small niggly things that needed doing. The Diablo gets serviced once a year and that's about it.
Last service was at the factory. They checked the clutch and said it still has plenty of life in it yet (car has done about 11,500 miles). Tales of clutches being worn at low mileages on Lambos usually come from owners who have no mechanical sympathy when pulling away, though there were a few problems with clutches on the early Gallardos.
Tyres aren't cheap, but due to the low mileage the car does, they don't need changing that often. I did treat myself to a spare front and rear wheel, should I ever kerb the alloys really badly. Being three part wheels, there aren't very many places that will refurbish them - least I haven't found anywhere in the UK yet.
Next service will be when I visit the factory again in September, and this time around I will also get them to check the tracking, as it hasn't been done from new. I'm not expecting to pay more than about £800 for that, so don't let stories of high servicing bills put you off.
If you have serious problems with a Lambo, then certainly the repair bill is not likely to be cheap, but day to day running and servicing costs are quite affordable.
The Murci in Evo belongs to a friend of mine, and what you have to remember is that he uses it to provide paying members of the public track day experiences. As a result it has had a comparatively hard life, and the servicing bills reflect that.

is that the SG54 LAM orange Murc? i wondered what that guy did to always need maintenance... do you know the guy who got the white LP640 also? (i think it was white...not been on Evo for a while)
EDIT: just been reading up more and turns out it's the same guy who owns both. lucky dude!
thanks for the notes.... I figured i can only just about afford a 10yr old Diablo. i'll never be able to afford a murcielago. so it's the running cost i'm doing research on.

Yeah, it's owned by the same guy. He bought it on a shared basis with his business partner.
They share the use and cost equally, and to help with the finances they also use it for track day experiences.

Simon George is the chap with the two Murci's from EVO I think...
As I've said to the OP before, truly beautiful car, not what I'd spent my imaginary millions on I don't think (I'm a Porsche guy) but I totally admire and respect both the car and the choices. :)

If you look at the post with the earlier photo again, you will see the explanation for the different plate.
To recap, I bought the car from a friend, and it still had his plate on it. That's when that photo was taken. Shortly afterwards I put the GIW 843 plate on a retention certificate, which I gave to my friend, and replaced it with my own plate.
Hope that clears it up for you.
Everyone else, I'd just like to say thanks for the kind comments.
Here's a photo of the GT, before I bought it, next to my old car with my number plate.
