Hi,
After the ZoomBrowser screwed up my date and time info again and again, I decide to switch to BreezeBrowser like most people suggested in this forum. However, I already had all the pix in Canon/ZoomBrowser folder with the wrong date/time. Three questions:
1. Is there any way I can "recover" those date/time info by using BreezeBrowser?
2. How exactly do I use the BreezeBrowser to download( or I ned the downloader?) and edit my pix? I mean, do I use it like the way I use ZoomBrowser-download-edit-save?
3. Can I store my pix in te folder of BreezeBrowser like the way I store pix in ZoomBrowser?

Thanks a millions, I got to say this is a very useful and helpful website, my only wish is Canon also read this web everyday to imrpove their software as soon as they can.

Hi Hsingyin,

Download Breeze Downloader (free) and, if you give it permission, it will automatically download your files to daily folders that it creates itself, delete the files on your camera's card, close itself and open BreezeBrowser.

You can disable any of these functions if you like. I think you have to choose "daily" folders in preferences (can't remember but it may not be a default). And you will have to set up "Automation" for it to automatically open BreezeBrowser. Take a look. It's a simple, effective program.

The deleting of files after downloading sounds scary but I've never had a problem in over a year on three different cameras.

Good luck.

Hsingyin,

Don's right get Downloader as well as BreezeBrowser.

For old images that have had the date/time messed up BB may be able to restore that info from the originals with the Tools>Timestamp command.

BB is not a database program like ZB, but you can use it to browse folders that have images files in them. I rename all my images to be in the form yyyymmdd-nnnn. I have hierarchical folders related to date. Recent images are store day by day:

L:\2002\09\15

Older images by month and significant event (if there is one):

L:\2002\03\Amsterdam - for images shot on this trip
L:\2002\03 - for other images in March

If you want to start adding other information to your images, you will need a different program, which is a whole new ball-game.

More important (IMHO) is to get a card reader. First of all it's a lot faster, second you don't need to remove that clumsy rubber. Users of a micro drive might advise against it as it seems for the disk not to move it around a lot.
With the card reader you can just drag and drop the folders on the drive/flash card.
It's (almost) the best money I spent after buying the D60.

Thank you all for your input. i really appreciate it. Roger mentionedd that I may be able to restore my messed-up-files by using the timestamp function. That is exactly my next question. It sounds like it can put the caption on the pictures when I print( like you can setup print preference in ZB so that you can print the time,title.. whatever when using photorecord..). Is it right? So all I have to do , which a lot, is to put the timestamp on all of my old photos, so I don't have to care what was wrong before because all my photo will have that info on it. Or it is like the properties of the photo, which I can choose to diaply or not when I print?

I am sorry to ask such detail questions, I did go to the BB website, the help manual is not that helpful...

Thank you again and have a nice day...

Another silly question is, I went to you two guys' websites. they are wonderful. If you don't mind, I would like to know how do you setup your website, by using dreamwaver or other program, or you made it from scratch? and how do you get a domain name? If you prefere, i can write the e-mail again to your e-mail account n your website.

thanks

Hsingyin,

Send me an email and I'll be happy to tell you what I did to build my sites roger@rogercavanagh.com.

WRT to updating the incorrect date/time using BB. This only works if the altered files have the same name as the originals or the same name with one of BB standard mods. For instance, CRW_0001.CRW when converted to linear TIFF becomes CRW_0001L.TIF. Other BB operations can give CRW_0001_std.JPG. These variations would be matched by the timestamp command.

I don't use PhotoRecord, so I can't help you with captions and printing.
