Currently I have a Digital Rebel and love the camera. However it does become a bit bulky when I want to take a camera along for a quick trip. Any recommendations on a descent Canon compact? Thanks.
Ballpark prices I want to spend are $200-$300.

I have to seriously recommend the Canon SD200. It's great for snapshots, powers up super fast, and takes up to 3 frames per second. When I go for walks with the dog, I keep it in my hand with my ring finger on the power button. I can have the shot in as long as it takes to get the camera up to my eye. It also has a great movie mode, if your into that kind of thing. The manual functions are also pretty extensive with your choice of ISO speeds, sharpness, exposure compensation, white balance. My brother in law has a digital Rebel, and you'll find the menu very similar to navigate. I've seen it for sale via the web for around $260.
Oh, and it's tiny. smaller than a deck of cards. I carry mine everywhere.

I will second the SD200. Although I have a 20D, 300D and tons of lenses, they are often too bulky or obvious to carry.
So, I always have my SD in a belt pouch. Very effective at work (I am a district manager for a chain of retail stores), I have found a picture is worth a thousand emails, so to speak.
Nice camera. The quality if severly limited compared to DSLR's but then again, if don't have a camera with you when you need it, quality is meaningless.

well I love my A75 which I got new for $148 total but the SD might be more what you are looking for being smaller and quicker.

I got an A80 (predecessor to the A95) as my "going out without a camera" camera.

Thank you all for the recommendations. I will look into all of those models. Don't get me wrong, I love my Drebel, but in certain cases it is just too bulky. Plus I don't want my family handling something so expensive.

How would the SD200 compare to an A95? That is a nice small camera with great picture quality.
