OMG...Great Series!!

Until I saw the last image, I had no idea how large the models actually were.

And I have questions for you:
-How large are those Battleship models that they can carry a person inside?
-By comparison, how large are the sailing ship models?
-Did opposing cannon fire really cause the sailing ship to sink?
-Do the Battleships sink each other as well?

Cool, aren't they? The manned ones are about 10 feet long. They guys lie down full length in them and look out via mini-cameras and a TV monitor. They're in contact with shore with an intercom so they can be guided.

The sailing ships are about 30 inches long I'd say.

There's no projectiles (since this is in front of people), all the "gunfire" is just small pyro charges that are times to look like exchanges of fire and effect.

The sinking one just has a compartment that is allowed to flood (but only to a certain extent). A pump on board allows the compartment to be filled up with air again.

Very interesting work, Pete. I like the way you could get down near their level.
When I was a kid I thought it would be neat to have a sub with a deck gun to go duck hunting. ;)

Nice pictures Pete...:), were these taken at Peasholm Park in Scarbourgh by any chance I remember seeing "Naval Warfare" there years ago as a boy, there were people inside those models too.

I found this clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7R6Pf7fZdI

I am really impressed with these "little" boats and your images. In the future if you get the chance to shoot them again I would open up more to get rid of the busy backgrounds or use a quick mask on these.
