Hello veryone, being that my Canon S2IS was bought on an auction website, and though it takes magnificent pictures for such a dated design, my thought are this:
How do I determine how many pictures it has taken? Is there a way to see or find out how many shutter actuations are on it? Thank you in advance.

No, there isn't. You can maybe get a rough idea from the current frame/folder number, but mixing cards between cameras or resetting the count can throw it off.

The counter starts at 100 and rolls back over to 100 after 9999. It can also be reset at any time. The best way to get an estimate is ask the person you bought it from. I have almost 12000 clicks on mine and it is still going strong.
The s2 is still a great camera. Consumer Reports rates its image quality as better that the s3. it remained their #1 pick for a point and shoot even after the s3 was released. The s5 is still the same basic camera with a hot shoe.
Have fun with your new camera.

Is it not true that only DSLR's have an actual shutter? If so, then it really wouldn't matter how many times the button on top has been pressed.
