I just got this unit from B&H and think maybe it doesn't work. I've put a few sets of new batteries in it and when i turn it on, the green light doesn't glow, just blips. I even went to far as to read the instructions :p
Any tips for me? Also, i put the batt's in my Metx54 and they fired like a champ.
This unit is going to be mounted on a stand, not on the camera. (strobist style?)
Thanks for any advice!

when mines charged it blips between the green and red light, when it alternates between the two quickly that means you have enough charge to fire.
To test it, when the light is flicking push the little red button on the mount :)

In OP I mentioned even having read the instructions, even the part about forming the capacitor; still no dice.
hhhhmmmm....Maybe i'll just wait, clear my head and let one of my kids try it.

It should be simple - insert batteries, push test button. If it doesn't work send it back. But sure, have someone 18 or younger have a go first :p

Back in the eighties the 285 did exactly that "bip" thing when it was ready. Then you take the shot and the green light stays on for a while if there as enough light to satisfy its little electric eye.
From here ('bout 20 000 miles away) sounds as if your unit is acting as it should.
One little question: What happens if you push the little red "test" button?
If it does not go "POP", take it back to the shop.

no "pop", so back to the shop.
Thanks
