I just switched to Mac's, and I reinstalled Windows on my old PC and gave it to my dad. I thought I had x-fer'd all my pictures over to my Mac, but I have now realized that I am missing quite a few. Is there a program that I can have my dad run (he's computer illiterate) on a couple of drives that maybe able to recover those images? Freeware would be great.

Thanks,

- Mike

thanks for the info Yogestee, but I don't think this will do what I need. I need something that can recover files after a hard drive has been formated.

On a second note I have 2 hard drives, in my closet, that I used with the computer that I gave my dad, and these drives were were RAID 0. The pictures I want may be on there also. Is there a way I can recover those files using a Mac Book Pro?

So is it possible to convert 2 HDD that were RAID 0, into something that I can read on my MacBook Pro? Or would I be able to recover the files I already deleted from the computer I gave my Dad?

Thanks,

- Mike

Do not use the formatted HDD, else the chances of recovery will be smaller.

First hit in Google: http://www.recovermyfiles.com/

Sandisk recovery (http://www.download3000.com/download_48522.html).

There are probably some free versions around as well.

The Mac should be able to read the data on those drives as long as they're in the FAT format or NTFS format, which they should be. You'll have to stick the drives in some type of usb or firewire external enclosure. Your sure the pics didn't transfer, not just in a file that the Mac can't read? I feel your pain, as this is something we've all done to ourselves at some point or another. It should also serve as a valuable lesson to all that read this thread to always verify your data transfers before your format or delete!

"Recover My Files" has worked wonders for me in the past recovering what I feared were lost forever pictures but it's not free.
