I have shot many weddings as the main photographer, but this was my first attempt as a 2nd. It was quite a different experience.

Thanks Deb! It was SO hard because they were, as should be, looking at the main, not me. I had a few moments alone with them when he was getting set up for their entrance to the reception, so I grabbed the chance to get a few of these.

Here's one more that I LOVE! I borrowed this idea from Toogy and finally got it to work out how I wanted it.

I could not do it, I have a hard time not being a leader. Plus I'm so organized I tend to like to "take care" of eveyone else,

Kathy, really wonderful shots, and yes, I actually prefer to be the second, if I can. I am also the main most of the time. The hand shot is very nice, but I actually love the full dress shot because it's got the contrasty thing going for it and her figure looks great in it.

I love the effects you have on the first few...how do you do that in PP? Is it just a desaturated look? Do you change the white balance? I'd really like to do this to some of my photos as I have been seeing it around lots lately, just no idea how to do it.

A few tips would be great!

That effect actually comes from a preset in Lightroom and then I just mess with it until I get it to my liking. I have been asked about this quite a few times and that is the best answer I have so far. Sorry:(

I am going to see if I can come up with something similar in CS3, if so, I'll be happy to share.

I tried to get something like it in CS3, but was a failure.:(

I'm sure someone can do it, my PP skills are not very advanced. Maybe ask in the Post Processing section and show a link to the shot with the effect that you like.

Thanks again everyone!

Between this being my first wedding of 2008 and being the 2nd shooter for the first time, I felt a little "lost".

Glad these are liked!:D

Great shots, I love them all. One thing that caught my eye. Is that a beer mug on rail in the bridge picture? Anyway you can photoshop that out?

Kathy H
14th of May 2008 (Wed), 22:02
Thanks! Yes it's his beer mug, he had it with him all evening after the ceremony, they were both aware that it was going to be in the pictures and thought it was funny, kind of like "Where's waldo" only it was "where is his beer mug"?

No, this was a place in Sisters, Oregon called Five Pines Lodge. Beautiful place, lots of pine trees. It's pretty new and there are a lot of features that are still unfinished. I really liked the place for photo ops and hope I have more couples use the place.

I have been to Tahoe many times and I can see how you might have thought this place was there, the landscape in both these areas is quite similar.
