Have just gone out and purchased 5d for my needs for this area in photography, but i'm stuck on which filter/s are good/best for this.
Don't know if i go hoya or cokin or who ever..
Any help would be gladly appreciated.
thanks
Damian
(Hopefully this is in the correct section, if not which section is this more suitable for?)

Not sure quite what you mean by "live event", but the basics would be an UV for front element protection, if you believe in that (I happen to; others will disagree, often vehemently; see the Protective Filter FAQ (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=368177) for an even-handed treatment) and a circular polarizer. Most anything else can be done in post-processing. As for brands, I use B+W MRC; Heliopan SH-PMC and Hoya S-HMC are also very good. I don't think I'd go Cokin.

live event = concerts.
Why would you not go cokin?
thanks

Well, I don't know anyone who admits to using Cokin screw-ins, let alone recommend them, and we've even had people on here say they use Quantaray, Tiffen and Canon filters. But their ND filters aren't neutral; there's a demonstrated colour cast to them, for a slight warming. Maybe that's why they call 'em "Graduated Gray" instead of ND grad.
