I've been using the Capture One software that came with Sandisk CF cards. This is a limited type of raw processing that I've been using for sometime to get the feel of a raw program. Can someone tell me what the "full blown" version of Capture One does different or does more of than this free version does?

Are you still using the LE version or have you upgraded to Capture One 4 for free? (which you can do by downloading the trial version and using your LE serial number to activate it)

There is a comparison between LE and Pro here
http://www.phaseone.com/Content/Software/ProSoftware/ProductOverview/WhyGoPRO.aspx#

but I can't find comparisons for Capture One 4 which is the latest incarnation.

pro allows tweaks to colours etc, you can make a profile that you like (say a mono conversion) and when you shoot tethered it will apply that effect to every photo you take, or if you're shooting in a studio environment, you can apply your white balance to every shot you take straight away rather than editing after.. if i shot studio all the time i would have gone Pro, but as i'm all over the place i upgraded to 4 (perhaps when 4 pro finally turns up i might stump up the cash for the upgrade)..

V4 currently allows you to batch process more than 10 images at a time now :)

I rate C1 ver.4 very highly. Its output is very good (better, I honestly think, than DPP), the workflow and pane layout are great, there are plenty of tools, thumbnail browsing is really nice. No annoying separate pop-up windows like DPP.

C1 is one of my favs, as well. DPP and Bibble are the other two, tho I have more than just those three. C1 works well for just about everything, except really blown highlights where I like DxO a bit more.

C1 is stable, fast and mature...but I do like Bibble more.

Thanks all for the replys. I'm going to try the upgrade to V4 and see how it does.

some things are a little different, you'll curse for a while, but then it will all click :) (least it did with me)

oh to batch a load of photos, you'll be looking forever for that button, but its ctrl+shift+D ;)

to copy a tweek ctrl+shift+C to past, you got it, ctrl+shift+V :)
