Look for page 173 I think.

On the top of the page it shows its 1Ds3, 1D3, and the Elan lineup.
Read the description, do you notice something amiss?...
Perhaps the graphic designers should spend some camera time, or maybe I should call BH and claim my 1D Mark III 21 mpixel version.

(This only makes sense if you just got a copy of the 2008 summer Pro Catalog). I shall scan it later and post it for those who have not seen it. :)

UPDATE: Must be different than the online PDF version right now, cause it is correct in the online version (1D MkIII = 10.1mp, 1Ds MkIII = 21.1mp)

I know how you feel. I got stuck browsing to the underwater casings, and they're worth a brand new camera. For that much money I might make my own enclosure, and keep that money in the bank. Then if my invention does not work, I just buy a new unit !!

i hate B&H. it's hard enough to fight temptation when they send me that catalog but now they went ahead and sent me 3!!! (for me, my wife and my sister). now i have to walk around the house and try my best to avoid seeing that darned book!!!!

I was looking, and the two things that surprised me:

- 30D still shows, along with 40D and 5D (No Mark II, I am sure there will be hordes of people stumbling on this thread because of that one comment - Hey BH PHoto, remember who increased demand for your catalogs !! ).

- That little mix up as explained by Xrunner. It is somewhat funny, the blurb with specs for the 1DS3, was placed on the 1D3, and the 1D3 specs show under the very expensive 1DS3.

Anyhow, I just hoped someone else would get a kick out of that.

I have found numerous description misprints in the past B&H catalogs so its indeed nothing new.

I sort of wish the B&H would forgo the catalogs and lower the prices. They are fun to peruse but they use to be amongst the lowest priced vendors around with great service but others have beating them consistently.

I would do that too for my husband, but I would run out of ink in my red sharpie marker reserved for that purpose! 8)

Looks like they completely swapped everything from the second line of the description down on the 1D and 1Ds.
Apparently they knew about the Canon lens price increases far in advance because the prices in the catalog reflect the newer prices, and I'd imagine it was submitted for printing quite some time ago.

If we dropped the catalogues and sales fell off, we couldn't lower our prices. I too have seen lower prices online and I too know there's a difference between a real genuine "kosher" price and the too-good-to-be-true nonsense that tempts the unwary. Smart shoppers check Resellerratings.com (http://www.resellerratings.com/) before spending hard earned money.

Posner, Tis true. A catalog that is going to roam around my desk for the next three to five months, is very likely to be used as almost certainty for prices. I'd rather go online and have a nice surprise during the shopping experience, rather than fall of my chair when my total price is higher than my mental calculations.

And I am making fun of the Catalog -well, pointing out typos and such- because is what we do in the newsroom with everything else, from competing publications, to the yellow pages. It kind of gets engrained in the psyche after a while.

But it works. Can't say how many times I have spent thousands of dollars from the Bathroom back to my desk. :Shame!:

(PS: I liked the Lens for a Compliment BH Program, the 50mm 1.4 is working great thanks, and shipping was quite fast. Can't wait to kiss up some more!...)

PM henryP your address, he'll hook you up.
(not only will you get the catalog, you'll also discover the curse of having one).

If Hamlet was alive today, and he was a remotely decent photographer, he'd probably be saying "To read the Catalog, or to Save?.."

JK Rowlings was going to write a book entitled "Harry Potter and the Market globalization after BH Photo has sent Catalogs to Hogwarts Staff Members", but she never finished said piece, rumour has it that she has purchased a camera, and has been devoted to photography ever since.

True stuff.

I'm happy to help, but it's a LOT wiser to e-mail me than to PM me within the forum.

Be careful. My nightly go to bed and read ritual has changed reading material lately. Now I spend two hours going thru the B&H Catalog, hoping the catalog fairies have changed the prices since last night.
