I'm sure red eye issues have been posted, but wasn't able to find any quickly.
Even though I've done some extensive "user's manual" reading I can't seem to get the red eye out of anyone. Like everything in my creative design career, I'm always looking for some tech solution. I have tried varies "manual" settings with the camera (PowerShot A85) and can't seem to stop the red eye. It just doesn't work like my conventional camera projects. My settings are in a incondescent lit room where the flash seems way to extreme and without it pretty dull in the photos. The red eye function in the camera is a joke and I took that option with a grain of salt. Anyway, does anyone have the right combination for ISO, f-stop and flash setting?
Thanks for any tips, solutions or ideas.
Cowpunk.

As far as I know the only way to stop red eye is to not point the camera directly at the person.
Sounds odd I know, but redeye is caused by the flash bouncing off the back of the eye, and reflecting back in to the camera.
The only way to get around it is to have the flash mounted as far away from the lens as possible (hence remote flash units on SLRs).
Since you can't move the flash on an A85, you have to move the subject, preferable have them looking off to the side, and not directly at the camera.

Thanks Moppie.
I have been doing a ton of reading here and found some good ideas to try. I never read a manual I liked and it always ended up in a drawer after a better book is found.

Use a L flash bracket, a slave flash and M mode from your A85 should solve your red eyes problem.

this also works too.
Of course it's best to remove the problem form the image. If you cant, this seems fullproof.

I've saw your wedding's photos. From the EXIF info..can be seen that the flash is off, may I know how you trigger your slave flash? BTW, which brands and models of slave flash you use? Er..I look forward to get 1 for my A80.
Another question...hehe...you're from Singapore? Club Snap Forum...

similar setup as this
http://www.pbase.com/megaweb/image/36950615.jpg and do not have reversed lens in front. There is small reflector cardboard place in front of the internal flash to deflect the flash upward to tigger the flash. The flash will sync in manual mode. The internet flash is ON. Not sure why the EXIF show is OFF :P
Yes I am from Singapore Clubsnap
