This was a pretty difficult shot due to the sky being bright/overcast and the turbine being a very similar colour to the clouds, but I was pretty pleased with what I was able to get out of it after I altered the levels in PS.

It doesn't work for me. Maybe you've cut too much (the propeller), maybe not enough. I think if the the difficulties you've mentioned did not exist the grey levels would be more pleasing, now they're... just not optimal. I like the composition, the idea and the picture in general, though. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the comments - It was a quickly taken shot without huge amounts of thought put into it and I definately intend to go back and work at this again under better conditions. At the time it was cold, wet and windy and my girlfrind wasnt really wanting to spend an hour watching me photograph turbines :)

I hope to back a few times when it's sunny and if I am really lucky I will get some low morning mist

Just out of interest, th blur on the lower blade, was that added afterwards?

It is just interesting that the blur is both ways suggesting that the blade was moving backwards and fowards, unless you used a fill flash?

Newp - all that has been altered is the levels of the photo. I guess the blur on the blade is due to it being the nearest and so it has the effect of seeming faster than the ones that are more distant.

I'm sure someone knows a better way of explaining this effect :)
