Travelling to West Virginia... any places I should go/visit/photograph?

In a few weeks I'll be going to West Virginia from Ottawa Ontario to attend my brother-in-laws wedding...

Leaving here, we're entering New York at Ogdensburg, then basically driving in a straight line all the way to Hungry Mother National Park...

Since I know Zero about the US... anywhere we should stop along the way to get some scenic USA photos? We have two weeks to kill, and it would be nice to have some destinations, rather than just driving around randomly...

There are lots of sights along I-81....I assume you are really going to Hungry Mother State Park in Virginia...

Along the way you will pass things like Steamtown USA in Scranton, PA...
the Hershey Chocolate Factory, Park and Gardens just outside Harrisburg, PA...
the Mason-Dixon line, Potomac River Rapids, the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, Antietam National Battlefield Memorial at the PA/MD/WV borders...
in WV you have the Harper's Ferry National Historic site...
in VA you have Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive/Blue Ridge Parkway, the Virginia Transportation museum at Roanoke, Civil War battlefields at Cedar Creek, New Market, Winchester, Cedar Mountain, Marion and Wilderness Road.

WV has several nice water falls. With the rains coming down in a few days they will be flowing fast.

Yup, that's where we are going... Thanks for the list.. I'll Google Map these places to make sure we can see them.

All the landscape really looks the same as it does up here in Canada, so picking places that are significant to the area offers us up some different shots we can't get at home.

All the attractions I have listed are just a short trip from I-81...
There is also the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse, NY...http://www.eriecanalmuseum.org/
In Staunton, VA there is http://www.frontiermuseum.org/ Frontier musuem
http://www.woodrowwilson.org/ Presidential Library and Birthplace
and also the Cyrus McCormick farm is not too far away.

Near Lexington, VA you will find Natural Bridge...a unique structure with a busy highway on top. http://www.naturalbridgeva.com/
