I'm always looking for ways to improve so any criticism is welcomed. Shot with a XSi / 50mm f/1.4 lens.

Thanks,

A nice series. The first is well composed and exposed. The middle shots look a little dark if that outfit is white. The last one is classic.
Nice work.

Jon, You did a great job on these.. They are a tad dark like the others said but that is easily fixable with editing.

I don't know if you want to get into photography as a business someday or if you are just doing this as a hobby but, here is a little cc that will help either way though.

If you faced her to a window or used a reflector in #3 it would have given her some nice catchlights in her eyes causing them to come alive.

Careful on the crops.. Yours above are not to bad at all I am just pointing it out for future photo's.. The guideline is to not crop at the feet, hands, elbows, knees hips and shoulders and ears. Basically anything that bends should not be cropped at. Rules can be broken but this is just general guideline.

Your daughter is such a cutie and you did a really nice job.. Welcome to POTN, this place is amazing for it's info and support.. Oh if you want to, turn on your "Image Editing OK" and I would be more the happy to show you a edit that might help her eyes come alive.

Thanks for the words of encouragement and the cc you've given me to make my photos look better.

Sure I'd love to see what you could do with the image. I'll keep those guidlines that you mentioned in mind the next time I take her photo.

Your girl is so cute.. Also, your welcome, any time. :) Here is a play that I did. Remind you I am doing it on a compressed photo and putting in a fake" catch light. It will not look as nice as the real thing but this will give you an idea..

Thanks again!

I haven't taken pictures of my daughter in a while :( it's been so busy lately and work is killing me. These are from yesterday.

I'm not sure if they're better in black and white or color or selective color. I've experimented and liked all.

Too cute!!! She is a doll. She has beautiful eyes that remind me of my daughter.
I love the one with the tear. But I think that maybe the car seat? in the background might take away from her face as well as the strap on her shoulder??? Try cropping it maybe and maybe that will bring more focus to that little tear. May make for a stronger image. I am no pro, so my comments probably dont weigh in at too much, but just thought I would put it out there and let you decide:)
I did a quick play to kind of show what I mean.
Hope you dont mind.

It's actually a jogging stroller and yes I do agree that it takes away from the photo. I wasn't really concerned about the strap at the time and after reviewing the pictures before posting here but I think you're right that the strap does get in the way a little.

Thanks!

ON that last one you might fill that space on the lower right of the image with her pink sweater.

Looks like she is getting her first taste of Cannon earlier than any of us did eh? he he

ok. I'll crop tighter.

yup, she's probably going to be my subject for many years ;) she just doesn't know it yet. canon will be apart of her up bringing.
