I had planned to do my first wedding (my cousin's) this past Saturday, but having fallen ill on Wednesday, and being admitted to the hospital for an asthma attack the whole week until Saturday morning ruined my confidence. I ended up giving my spot to another photographer, who I'm glad captured the wedding ceremony that I was 30 minutes late to.

All in all, I found the wedding to be a little boring - the bride and groom were too uneasy and every shot showed this (how do you seasoned people deal with this?). Furthermore, the lighting inside the banquet hall was comparable to a rockshow. There were blue "dance" lights that put mysterious shadows on the walls which looked more like CA than anything else - and as a result, I had to do BW.

Here are some shots:

Sorry to hear about your illness. I had a wedding last month and I had pneumonia for weeks prior--it did not get better and had to go to the doctor several days before the wedding to get the hard core treatment I needed---I was also worried about not making the wedding.
First you will find that many weddings are really not that exciting. You need to find the excitement and emotion from within and photograph it. This is were your creative skills come into play. I had a wedding last year that the bride and groom never really smiled--- I had to force them to kiss to take a decent photo. There is really nothing you can do about this but to capture what happens.
I always tell my couples prior to the wedding that they need to let things be wedding day and simply relax. No matter what happens just smile and enjoy each other and their special day.
Many times you have to be their consultant and guide them in order to get nice photos to remember their day. Tell them to take a deep breath and kiss and come up with something goofy for them to do. Some couples are so tense this is hard--others fall into it easy.

you have some slightly tilted horizons, but these look really nice. You should be happy with them
