Hi all.. im interested in buying a telephoto lens for my A85. I've got a couple of questions...

1. Is the adapter bracket the same size as those for the A75.. ie. If i see a lens and adaptor advertised for an A75, will it definatly fit and work on my A85?

2. Will the one adaptor fit ALL lenses for the a85? (or will i need a different adaptor for each brand of lens/type of lens)?

3. I notice that there are many third paarty lenses available (been browing ebay to get an idea of whats available)... I'm assuming the 'lenses aint lenses' and if so, what brands are good, and which brands should be avooided?

4. Whats the max magnification I'm likely to get form one of these lenses? Ive seen 3X magnification advertised .. is this about the limit?

5. Anyone know fo a telephoto lens (for th A85) that allows filters to be attached?

Lots of questions i know.. sorry but i have noone else to turn to for advice!
Thanks in advance! :)

I don't know about sizes. You can always get a step up or step down adapter to fit your screw mounts. My auxillary lens is much to big for my filters so I mount them behind the lens.

Thx for your answere Don, may i ask what aux lenses you are using and how you mount the filter behind the lens?? This may seem a stupid question (on actually looking at an aux lens/adapter 'in the flesh') but I've not managed to actually see one first hand.

Thanks :)

The Canon lens adapter has a 52 mm screw mount. I have a lot of 49 mm filters from an old Nikon and an even older Miranda Sensorex. I bought a 52->49 mm step down adapter screwed into the 52 mm lens adapter. I put my filter on the adapter. I use an old .6x wide angle auxillary lens with a very large front end and a 49 mm screw mount. I screw the auxillary lens into the front of the filter via the step down. So it's camera->lens adapter->step-down->filter->aux lens. It works great. I had a little vignetting with my circular polaroid filter (because it's very thick).
