I am looking to pick up a light weight P&S Canon. The SD950IS looks pretty nice and within my price range. Anyone have one and love/hate it? I'm picking up a new camera by Friday for a trip, any other suggestions? I want something to fit in my pocket.

Where you going? The 950 hasn't got as wide a lens as your Sigma 17-50; you'd want to look at the SD870IS or maybe if you can find one the SD800IS to match the Sigma at the wide end.

Jon,
I am off to Chicago for three days and it's just a short enough trip, I don't want to lug a DSLR. I do have an older powershot, but I want the ability to enlarge some photos beyond what I would normally print. We are spending memorial day at Wrigley Field and I will want to get some shots of the stadium, the great Los Angeles Dodgers and I don't want to think about the camera. MB.

From the bleachers, wide can't hurt for the whole field. OTOH, if you want to get the players in action, you'll want longer than any of the as-yet mentioned possibles can manage. Something like the S5 or SX100. I think I'd go with the wide, personally. There'll be other chances to get your home team in action.

Not looking for action shots. I paid for a scoreboard message and want to take a good photo of that, so wide is the ticket. How does the SD790IS compare?

Think of it as the difference between 17 mm (with the 870) and 22 mm (the 790) on your XTi at the wide end.

Thanks Jon, I was trying to find the specs on the 790, looks like 870 is the clear winner with both wide angle lens and cost!
