Your thoughts on this shot would be appreciated - I can't make up my mind if it works of not.
The thing which attracted me to the image was the low sunlight catching the side and the angle at which it was lying.

I like the shot, very nice. Only thing I would do with it is crop it so the top point of the ancor is closer to the top of the photo. But that is just down to my taste.

I agree, I would have cropped a little more off the top and added a little more on the bottom. This way it looks like the anchor is leading you into the pic instead of being static.
Good shot, Emil

I love anything nautical, but this is particularly well done.

David,
I like the composition, and I see no problem with the empty space between the anchor and the top of the frame. The two things that I don't care for are the white balance and the background. For me, the upward facing surfaces of the anchor reflect too much of the cyan of the sky. Also the background - the highway, sign, buildings, ariel, etc all conspire kill the romance of the anchor. Prime candidate for cut and paste?

PS - 20d, I am jealous.
PPS - the more that I look at it, perhaps it could use a treatment like the one used in Flagpole's "Which One Is Best" post.

Thanks for your input, as is normal with you Rad, You have voiced all the reasons that were my own thoughts - just for info, the buildings in the background are part of a steel foundry. I'll have another go with altering the white balance and some of the other things suggested.
(PS - 20d, I am jealous) Well you now know how I felt having the G5 and all you guys with EOS's of one description or another! I Just had to join the big boys!
Belmondo:
I'm becoming much the same and find that I'm thinking about boats, ships, harbours, etc, etc.
Thanks everyone else for your input too.
