www.7dayshop.com have 20D compatible batteries for £9.99 (no VAT needed). Now, they are only 1200mah so I'm not sure how long they will last - anyone any experience here ?

I run my 20D sometimes on an older Canon 1100Mah battery from my G3, no issues with it except that it obviously doesn't last as long, got around 500 shots out of it on the weekend.

be aware that 2 of us on here have experienced problems charging non-canon batteries on the 20D charger in the uk.

What was that issue? I am charging on the older twin battery charger, the one with my 20D is still in the box!

they just will not charge.
I have 5 generics and they all work except one.

The only info on it is:

J-BP511
7.4V LI-ION BATTERY PACK
1250mAh (on a white sticker)
*Assembled in Taiwan*

Hmmm, I have a number of 1300Mah's inbound from the states, I will check them all when they arrive.

I have the same 1300MAh's that Pete has coming in from the states, they work flawlessly with my 300D and charger. The Canon battery I have is 1100MAh, and the generic 1300s last noticable longer.

Between the BP511 and BP511a, I have five batteries ranging from 1100 mAh to 1500 mAh, and they all charge about the same. The newest ones with the highest capacity tend to last longer, in terms of numbers of shots fired, and they also seem to self-discharge less than the older funky ones. Well, at least we don't have to pay $60 each for them like it was two or so years ago.

Of the five, none of become unusable.

I do have one dud from a couple I bought about a year ago, but then it did go for a swim a couple of months ago (yep that will do it!)

Interestingly enough, if you try to charge it it just shows that it has a full charge?

for anyone interested, this is the battery in question.
There is nothing wrong with it but the 20D charger will not charge it.
I peeled the sticker back earlier and it says 1200mAh underneath.
