yes, and no. On tripod, f10, 0.8s, ISO100, but no flash. It was like 10pm. Don't have any real shots wide open, only been testing. When finals are over, hopefully :D
(btw don't normaly take a tripod to school, only when I have a new lens to test;)

I don't have a pic of it on a body, but here are the 1755 f2.8 IS and 70-200 f2.8 IS next to it:

Along with my 30 f1.4, I will never sell this 11-16 f2.8 lens so long as I have an APS-C body. I love shooting at 11mm f2.8. It's a superlative lens in almost every way.

Also FWIW, the 70-200 shown in my pic above is the f2.8 IS, not the f4, so just so you know if trying to compare size. Take care.

Don't bother, there are none in stock and they are all back ordered. After preordering from B&H and waiting a week (they charge your card when you pre order) I asked B&H when they expect the lens, they told me 2-4 weeks which sounded like a generic "we don't know" response. I e-mailed the Customer service at B&H again and they said they would contact Tokina to find out but couldn't get Tokina to give them a response. So I canceled the pre-order and went back to "notify me when in stock" status.

This lens is a nice lens but Tokina's poor service and lack of response to a large seller like B&H is pretty sad. Oh well, I guess, I'll just have to wait for now. Adorama on their site states, delivery in Late June. You can order from them and they will charge your card when it actually ships.

Overall, it's been a pretty bad experience dealing with Tokina for me.

yeah I did. IIRC, it seems to work at about 12.5mm on a 1.3 wide open, but it starts to slightly vignette at smaller apertures. 13mm should be no problem, and 13mm on a 1.3 is pretty darn wide.

Both were at 11mm at f4.5, 1/13 for the first and 1/50 sec for the second and handheld. Shooting at f2.8 may not have given enough dof for this shot.

Another poster who just got one also notes a small amount of backfocusing.
I suspect it's a design flaw and not quality control issue. It's not a big deal though.

I just received my Tokina AT-X 116 Pro DX from B&H and I am absolutely thrilled with the results, so far. A couple of observations. The lens is beautifully finished and incredibly rugged. It's a wee bit on the noisy side, but nothing too distracting. It really does open a world of possibilities.

I mainly use the widest end for landscapes, usually 11-12mm so 16mm at the longest end isn't an issue. Haven't had to use f2.8 yet but I'm sure there will come a time when I do for indoor or low light handheld stuff.

16 mm can be a bit limiting, but nothing a little cropping can't solve:)
Seriously, when I put this on it is usually to go wide anyway. Bothered me a few times but not significantly.

Have used it a few times indoors in museums and such and really like it for that. And 2.8 have been nice to have there. Kinda surprised how often i used this as a "walkaround" lens, especially indoor but outside too. Anyone else do this or am I just too lazy to change lenses?;)

wow it was great, but isn't the 16mm cap is limiting? and also do you guys find yourself using f/2.8 that often?

Two of the great things about this lens is that at 2.8, according to some tests I've seen, it's still REALLY sharp... and that at 11mm and 2.8, you've got a hyperfocal distance of only 7.7ft. So you could take a shot handheld in a concert hall and get everything from the row in front of you to the back of the stage in focus.

Of course, that also make it pretty much a landscapes-only lens, unless you don't mind not having bokeh on anything farther away than one foot.

I want one!

It's funny but the toke make a funky 18 point star when shooting stopped down against a bright light source like the sun. I don't recall any other lens that gives that many points.
It has a 9 fan diaphragm. I like the effect

Even number of aperture blades produce the same number of "rays", odd number of blades produce double the number. I have a couple of lenses with 15 blades.

Hey, you learn something new every day. I didn't know that.
Geez, so a 15 blade lens would produce 30 rays? wow, can that even be discriminated as a ray or does it all sort of fade in together?

Anyway, I've never seen so many rays and I too think I'm starting to like the effect.

There is a web site where someone studied the rays produced by different lenses - I do not have a link. They were looking at stars, street lights and the sun, I believe.

Yes, you can use the 11-16 on FF. It is usable down to 14mm. There will be a bit of vignetting in the extreme corners which can easily be fixed via the heal tool in lightroom. But anything lower than 14mm and you'll start to get the black hole kind of look. 15-16mm works great, which is exactly why I bought this lens instead of the 16-35L. It's simply WIDER!

Thanks. :) I've always wondered why lens manufacturers couldn't make their lenses for specific brands/mounts all zoom/focus the same way.

Most photographers become creatures of habit and things become second nature, and do them without having to "think" about them. So it would only make sense for lenses of the same camera mount to all focus, and zoom in the same direction. Would make things a lot simpler.

On a crop body, would the 1mm difference between this lens and the Canon 10-22mm be noticeable?

Also, the description says "there is no second AF/MF switch on the lens for Canon, everything is accomplished by the focus ring." So, doesn't that mean you manual focus with the ring? But, it says it has autofocus? Can someone please explain this better?

The focus ring incorporates a "clutch". The ring moves in a fore & aft position. If you move it forward (away from the camera body), it will be in autofocus mode and the focus ring rotates freely without doing anything.

If you pull it back toward the camera body, it will be in manual focus mode. Very easy to use, actually.
