Thanks quarters for giving me the first place...I never thought that, As I am noob in forum and the photographic world(and this is my 1st time submission in any challenge)...What I excepted for my shot is a good criticism.

According to the shot, No post processing in computer....only crop lower portion using GIMP...coz there are some cable hanging out in the original shot.

Thanks gjh1020....Your composition is too interesting

According To My eyes (Consider as I am newbie)

Seen Better Days:- Great Variations of Colors
Blue Angel Star :- Interesting Subject Matter
Broken Sky:- Nice Concept

Moon Silhouette:- Outstanding Beauty.

StanI'm guessing quarters is referring to the "banding" in the sky. If so, that isn't uncommon when a JPEG image is compressed a lot, as your shot might have been to get it within the rules.

I don't know why we cant use JPG 2000 - the browser plugins are as freely available now as java, shockwave and flash, and JP2 offers far superior quality to it's poorer quality cousin, in the same filesize.

The only downside I could see to it is you'd need to use html 'embed' command rather than the more formal (IMG), and that means allowing people to access html on the board. Some boards can say which commands are allowed to be used, mine does that, but some may not.

Anyway, worth a gander :)

IE

Examples here:
http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/JPEG2000/J2K_samples.htm
(in honesty, most of the samples don't do justice, but look at the bottom one of the girl for 16k,
and the tiger halfway up for 48k - not baaaaaad)

Use in Webpages is here:

Well, the posted photo's only 32K, with an allowable limit of 150K (POTN Attachment limits, which are stricter than contest limits), so it was certainly compressed more than was necessary.

I've sent a PM to Neel350 reminding him he needs to post the next challenge. If he hasn't managed to do so by Noon, GMT on Thursday May 22, I'll ask Edd S to start one, to run until Noon GMT next Tuesday instead of the usual Monday, so the time isn't quite so short. After that, the schedule should return to the usual Monday finish.
