OK, it is offcially summer down these parts, and I haven't seen the sun since I got my 20D.
I am getting into a state of panic, as there are some awesome landscape shot oportunties with a local costal tree that is flowering (bright red), but where is the blue sky? I'm running out of time, these trees only go for a few weeks each year!
I missed the oportunity last year as well, due to having other things on the go (i.e. birth of first child!).
ARGGGGHHHH!

You see your problem is that you are in auckland and that never gets any sun. You should come down to Hamilton, where I can see some sun shine :) it's just a shame I am at work :(

Blue sky! and no wind!
and I have to fix the g/f's car!!!!!!!!
I never noticed before just how many pohutakawas there are around here, but then Iv never actualy want to really take a photo of one before.
Im used to seeing them lining the bays in the gulf, but the street I live off has them living a cental median, and the street I work on has them all down both sides, and they are all flowering at the same time.
And speaking of sunny Hamiltron, I here theres a lights festival down there?
Is it very photogenic?

It's not here in Michigan, that's for sure. We won't see it again until May ... by which time we'll forget what it is and mass panic will ensue.

Well found some blue sky, couldn't quite get the shots I was looking for, as their was still quite a bit of cloud cover, just a well that I left when I did, raining today!

I never did either until a couple of years ago, I haven't been to 'Hobbiton' at the right time of year, usually down there later in January as media coverage for a music festival.
Here is a shot I got, shot as RAW processed in DPP1.5, 28-105mm lens with a polarizer on a 20D, F4.0 1/160s ISO200, downsized in PS, not further processing (levels, saturation, sharpening etc):

I thought that was in New Plymouth?
BTW, I’m not a native Aucklander, so I go get around the country, should check out the light festival if it is still happening!
What I am really hanging out for is another one of the central north island volcanos to go up (who cares about the ski season anyway  )!

LOL!
I agree!
Im a Native Aucklander (not by choice) but I know most of the NI pretty well, and some of the SI. I try to get out of Auckland as often as possible.
I wouldn't mind it having a good spew next time Im in Rotorua.
It would make for some great sunsets over the lake.
The Light show in New Plymouth isn't actualy that spectacular.
Or at least it wasnt a year ago when I went and had a look.
That said I was pretty drunk at the time.
Apprently the Hamilton show is similar, but as you would expect, claimed to be better.
Have you seen the welcome to Hobbition sign in Matamata?
I keep forgetting to go that way comeing back North to get a photo of it :D

Thats what it is, I talked to the g/f tonight.
Now I know what it is, Im not that excited by it.
And no sun at all today, just lots of rain and drizzle.
I had hoped it would stop raining tonight, Im itching for some night photography.
