Up until a few weeks a go I used a PC & after filling 2 or 3 1Gb cards I'd download the lot to a folder on my hard drive & go through them quickly using a piece of software called 'Pixort', flagging the keepers & the ones to dump. I'd like to do the same now I've moved over to using a Mac but can't seem to find a program that does a similar job. I asked this question here a while back & a couple of people mentioned PS which I use (CS) for processing but I can't seem to get it to preview & cull as fast as Pixort did. I'd like to be able to see a large if not full screen preview of the image & then just have to have a relevant key assigned to keep or dump, is this possible?? I've just purchased iView MediaPro to keep track of my collection of pics but having a quick look at it it doesn't seem to have this 'sorting' ability, maybe I'm wrong!
How do you guys out there do your sorting?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I use a Mac. I have the following process that I go through.
When shooting RAW:
I develop a downsized JPG image in C1 Pro for import to iPhoto. I import those into iPhoto and then tag them with keywords and rate them. If need be I'll put them into an album (album1), then create a smart album (album2) that will only get the images from album1 with a rating greater then say two stars. This allows me to save all of my images, but only see the ones I really care about. (ie. the highly rated ones)
When shooting JPG I basically do the same thing except I use the full size JPGs in iPhoto.
I will admit that as I throw more and more photos at iPhoto it has developed some issues. I'm open minded to an alternative, but haven't really put a lot of effort into it because I'm so invested in iPhoto for rating and categorization.

I preffer Photo mechanic for stuff like this, and not Acdsee. Acdsee has just too many "goodies" for my taste and therefore it's too slow. And good thing with PM is that it works also on Mac.

Sorted! Like I said I've just purchased iView's MediaPro & now that I've taken the time to look through it I find I can easily do a full screen slide show whilst at the same time flagging images either to keep or dump. If any of you are looking for a professional piece of software to organize & keep track of thousands of images i can highly recommend MediaPro.
Thanks.
