I recently did portraits for one of my husband's coworkers. The wife caught me off guard when she asked if she could have her favorite images burned on CD. I've read the pros and cons to offering images on CD and I believe in the future I will likely not offer this as I do not want them to run to wal-mart and get prints made with my name attached and the picture looks awful b/c wal-mart developed it. Anyway, for her I decided to do it and I charged $20 an image based on what other photographers in my area charge. To my suprise she purchased 8 images on CD and after talking with her husband will buy one large developed print. My question is this, what size do I crop the images to be put on CD? I did not discuss this with her before hand. Should I put them all to 8 x 10's b/c that is what I charge for an 8 x 10 print, or do I do 5 x 7's or do I not crop at all? I appreciate any words of wisdom.
