So what would be the best monopod to buy for useage of a S5 IS on it?

I have the Manfrotto 676B w/3229 QR tilt swivel head and I am happy with the combo. Lightweight, sturdy and the lock on the head makes it secure for walking around the zoo or where ever... I use it on the S3.

Any of the Manfrotto offerings would be just fine. With a small camera like the S5 you really don't need a robust pod.

Get one that you would feel comfortable putting a full size SLR with a large lens on. That will provide you with all the support you need and NOT be flimsy. And then when, not if, you upgrade your camera you will have a monopod that is suitable for whatever you may get next.

the 680 manfrotto is nice, it folds up pretty small.
