I'm always amazed at what you can do in raw. Ever clicked before the flash was recycled? I was looking through some shots of my daughter and at first I thought I wouldn't even be able to tell what it was....it was just black. Amazing what you can recover....sure it's not a "keeper" but I'm still amazed...I'm easily amused I guess, lol.

You can pull alot more details out of shadwos than highlights. This might look good in a black and white

I've been reading about raw and digital cameras and found that half of the data recorded from the sensors is the lightest stop in the dynamic range....so compared to film, there isn't as much data that you can recover from the darker areas, but there is allot on the light side due to the linear gamma that digital cameras have. So it's better to push closer to over expose then to under expose. I've been experimenting a little and have found that I can bring down the exposure better then going up...but I'm just starting to experiment so it should be fun to find out.
You know, I'm going to keep this one...I shoot raw too because I know they come out with better and better RAW converters....I bet in 5 years I'll be able to open this image and it will be as if was never underexposed.
