We previously had a meet at the New York Bronx Zoo, earlier in the month and are planning another meet for Sunday January 9th of 2005. This would be basically a city walk and shoot, with 1 select lens out of your arsenal..

For more information please check out this post.

As photographers in new york/new jersey/Connecticut, we all need to come together and unite AND TAKE PHOTO'S .... hehehehe.

You can see some of the photo's from the Bronx zoo meet here
www.pbase.com/brucescott
just click on Canon 20D and then bronx zoo

Thanks

Hey Mr. Photoguy, I'm a trans-planted New Yawka living in Southern, New Joisey! This photo meet sounds like a "great idea"! But how about meeting in a central location, like somewhere in the middle of NYC. Like the "Village" or "mid-town". The Bronx Zoo, is a long ride for some of us (i hate going to Yankee Stadium for that reason)!
And how do we sign up for this "adventure"? It looks like we have to register with you, is this correct, cause i'm a lot nervous~~~~~registering with someone i don't know, after that "phony paypal email", UGH! So what's the STORY?
THANKS, MANNY

Ok guys,
here's some info..

originally posted by eeprete on fredmiranda.com

The last event was a great success. A bunch of us came out and got together at the Bronx Zoo for a day of shooting. I had a great opportunity to test my 100-400, while Bruce got L fever using my 80-200L. Dave showed his true expertise to all of us, as Shawn also enlightened us on lighting and flash systems.

Next Meet: NYC Street Photography
Date: TBA/Possibly Sunday, January 9th

I've personally never done street photography at all. I think what would be a great challenge is to choose one lens from our respective arsenals, and shoot exclusivesly that lens. This would really challenge us.

Anyone interested, simply email me via the email link, and I will add you to the update list. If the above date doesn't seem to work for you, let me know and we can then figure out what date(s) may or may not work for everyone.

I would advice signing up though. There are like 30 posts over in that one post, so it is not easy to pull them all out. (or actually time consuming).

So if you can just sign up and that way you can be on top of things.
I will post updates though.
Presently we are debating on where to meet up at.

Are there any ideas on where to meet. I think midtown would be nice and then we could just make out way downtown. That always works. 42nd street area would be nice also..

If you want to be added to the list, feel free to pm me or email me at

You know to remove the AT and DOT.
or you can just respond here.

I really don't understand what you are talking about.

To register on the www.fredmiranda.com "photo forum", all you have to do is click on Register, then fill out the information. My screen name is the same on both forums, so that makes life that much easier for me to sign on, and remember my passwords between the two forums.

As for the Bronx Zoo meet. Yeah it was a bit far, but Dave Baker came from up in CT for the meet, so it's not that bad. We had a really good time also. It was a very informative and refreshing event. So distance v.s. shooting 90 exposures and getting to meet individuals who at different experience levels is very rewarding.

Something to think about.

Thanks Bruce for making the list of usernames.

I will keep everyone posted via email. This post is to confim that the 9th will be the firm date. So bookmark this thread and forward me your email address if you have not done so already.

So far the Brooklyn side idea and working our way across to lower Manhattan seems like a solid plan (Any non-NY'ers please note, this is not a Ground Zero tour). Also with it still being around the holiday season, it will save us the headaches that midtown would have.

Ok, no problem. Have you signed up on the fredmiranda.com forum or have an id over there. Then I can just add that id.

I hope it's not to cold, but we all know what January can be like so... we will have to see.

See you guys around, perhaps? ;)
