Hello... I would like to ask other users opinions about upgrades of Zoombrowser EX.

My first Digital was an IxusV which came with the usual bundled software - Canon Digital Camera Solutions Disk V5.0 (Zoombrowser EX 2.7) + Arcsoft Camera Suite. All has worked fine to date with only minor glitches.

I have now acquired a powershot G3 which came with Canon Digital Solutions Disc V11.0 (Zoombrowser EX 4.0) My question is..... Is it safe to upgrade to 4 with 2.7 in place and photos stored within it?

Can anyone help me out here? Thanks. FK

I think it was the 2.x versions of ZB that included an "Export the database" function, and Canon recommended that before upgrading them that you do the export, then import into the new version. At least the version that came with my D60 needed that done when Canon released 3.something for download.

Thanks Jon. After a long hard think I have transfered all my photos out of ZBEX, then I am going to uninstall it before installing the newer version. Probably from the Canon Site. Regards FK

The upgrade you download won't install unless you have a previous installation of ZB on the computer. It will do the uninstall of the old version for you, but that older version must be present.

Yep, you are right....... I now have the latest version and I am really surprised how radicaly different it is to the one I was using. Thanks again. FK
