What do you wear when shooting weddings? All black? Simple or dressy top? What are some good comfortable shoes that will support you for 10 hours? Your bag of choice? Thanks

That's a good question. I am curious to see some more of the answers.
OH, I am a newbie by the way! I have been reading for a couple of weeks, and just got my new XTi last week.!!! :)
When donig weddings, I wear Black or dark grey dress pants, and a white shirt As far as shoes, I am still looking for something comfortable to last all day! And I have not gotten a camera bag yet. I need to find something soon.

I like to make sure im not wearing a suit so all black if possible depending on the wedding.
Nice pair of loafers, a shirt or smart sweater and a pair of trousers. Turning up in a suit just makes you look like a guess with an expensive camera and people are more likely get in your way.
WHOOPS just saw it says ladies.

I am glad you asked that question. I bought a low heel brown shoes but I am thinking twice. That may hurt my feet after standing and shooting all day as a 2nd shooter. Am I better off buying flat shoes?

staceyann~I would deffinatley think about going with flats. OR, try out your heels, just bring along a pair of flats to change into if you need to.

I always say, in order to shoot weddings you have to dress for a funeral. : )
...even though I'm not a lady.
re: bag..always something with wheels.

I would wear some nice black or dark brown pants(something comfortable) and a nice comfortable black shirt. Do you have any ballet flats? I think those would be the most comfortable and can look a little dressy. You don't want to stick out like a sore thumb so you do want to look a little nice... but at the same time blending into the background. They don't want to look around and have their eye being drawn to you the whole time ;)

For me, it depends on the season, venue, time of day. Mostly I dress in black, dark brown or navy blue. Always pants. If it's a very warm day, I have a nice pair of tailored, pinstriped capris and a tailored black shirt. If it's evening, I'll wear a dress jacket and long pants. I also have a few shoes that I love. My current favorite pair are Dr. Scholl's black flats from Wal-Mart. Very Comfy and actually quite stylish!

I'm not a lady either but I think the clue is to dress to attract no attention, be comfortable and able to be versatile. A short little cocktail dress or heels might well prevent you from climbing up on something to get that amazing eye-in-the-sky picture. I've seen male/female wedding teams both in similar dark pants suits with neutral shirts and found that most appropriate. So again, be inconspicuous but flexible ... you are there to work, not socialize or attract attention.

Black dress pants preferably with pockets, ugly black waitress shoes(super comfortable), black shirt or something very neutral/quite. I like to be able to move quickly and quitely during the ceremony and this enables that. Stay away from anything dressy you will not be comfortable getting on the ground or whatever the sitation calls for, also I have never done a wedding yet when I didn't get super sweaty...

I wear dark gray pants, they seem to hide the dirt better than black or light colors, and I am always climbing on things, laying on the ground, sitting on grass...etc to get the shots. Black polo type shirt thats not confining, and I ALWAYS wear comfortable black tennis shoes.
I don't carry a bag, I carry two cameras:)

wear them for a day and see how you feel. whenever I shoot I'm always in pants I find that I move too much for a skirt and the last thing I want to be concerned with is my clothing..
