Hi all,

I'm new to all this so a big "hello" and welcome to my first post!

I recently bought an Ixus 40 (PowerShot SD300 to some) - a great little camera but with the expected pitifully small memory card.

So, I'm in the market for a new SD card, preferably 1GB and, from what I've read on these forums, probably a Sandisk card due the consistently good recommendations.

My question is, if I want to record video up to the maximum capacity of the card, do I need a super-fast card such as a Sandisk Ultra II or will a standard Sandisk card do the job?

Thanks a lot.

I was going to say that I didn't think it would make much difference, but the Canon site says :

"The large, high-definition 2.0" LCD screen allows immediate review of images and playback of very long high quality 30 fps VGA movie clips with sound (recording of up to 1GB movie files possible)*. You can even shoot up to 60 sec of fast QVGA action at 60 fps for slow motion review.

*Depending on memory card speed/capacity."

I'd get clarification from Canon before spending any cash if I was you.

Thanks for the reply.

It's that sort of ambiguous comment from various Canon articles and a few bits I've read in reviews that leave me uncertain.

Any ideas of the best way to contact Canon regarding this?

Many thanks.
