Some shots of red damsel flies mating and egg laying. #3 is a 3 shot animation showing the abdomen movement.

Excellent series Brian they really are.

When you photograph 'couples' like that during the egg laying sessions, have you ever seen the males go face to face and start boxing each other? It is so funny to watch with the females laying eggs and the males boxing lol.

Nice ones Brian. It's always difficult to get mating shots sharp all the way down. Did you stack any of these?

the double pair shots are out of the ordinary and well captured. The animation is a bit jerky and irritating.

Thanks for the comments all :) - much appreciated
Linda- not seen that - they seem to keep a slight distance from each other.

Eccles- small amount of stacking in #1 and #5 - others are single shots.

Wunderbar! I'm so envious, I can't even get a decent shot of a Damsel, let alone one mating. Good stuff!

Thanks Dave :)- it's easier when they are in your own garden :)

True, true. I'm still trying to talk my parents into putting in a pond, but it's highly unlikely because we have severe water restrictions here.
