I've added a 3.5mm mono port to a Sunpak PZ 5000-AF minolta mount successfully. I then added one to a Canon mount but it does not trigger the flash. If I put a 3.5mm plug in/out of the port when the flash is charged up it fires the flash but the receiver itself does not trigger the flash.

Any ideas on this? :o:o:o

Which 3.5mm jack you are using? The reason I ask is that 2 type of jacks, open-circuit and close-circuit. If you use a close circuit one, you have to connect the sync wire to the right terminal.

Good question Lotto.
Is there an easy way to find out?

If I short the connection at the port (socket) then it will trigger the flash.

Here's link with pictures show the open and closed circuit jacks. Basically the open circuit jack has 2 connection points, the closed circuit one with 3. And with the closed circuit one, 2 of the terminals actually ground the sync wire when the plug is removed.

If you can post a picture of your wiring, I will have better ideas.
