Question about the 50mm: Is it bad to turn the focus ring when your on AF? just in case it focuses on the wrong thing and I want to adjust it a little bit . . .
Can't wait to post some pics!!!
btw, u guys weren't kidding . . . B&H has awesome service . . . ultrafast shipping!!!

No problem, with the 50 1.4 you can focus manually at any time. It's called FTM (Full Time Manual). It is standard in all USM lenses but 1.4 has it too although it is Micro-USM.

Canon's official explanation is that you get full-time manual focussing in any EF lens that has a focussing scale on it. Reference: Canon "EF Lens Work III" Guide Book.

They say the black Rebel meters better compared to its silver counterpart. It also takes better pics!!!
Congrats!!! And welcome to the EOS forum.

The black Rebel has one enormous advantage over the silver one....
When you upgrade to a 20D or 1D Mark II... the wife can't tell the difference ;)

At last, a solid, logical reason for a black D Rebel...

I like the fact that you can leave it on auto-focus all the time! I hate having to make sure a lens is on auto before using it; inevitably you forget.
Also, I just picked up my new 20d yesterday - woo-hoo!!! HEre's a sample pick I took while playing around with the settings and reading the manual. 50mm 1.4 @2.2 iso400, standard exposure and custom WB, before trimming my toe-nails:

Well... EF lens work III is WRONG
I know at least one EF lens which has a range scale and no FTM

I know at least one EF lens which has a range scale and no FTMI think that's because FTM="'F' the manual!"

Oh pulease. I'll reverse their little tricks back on them.
Is that a new camera?
You're never paying attention to me anymore! It's like I don't exist for you! I've been shooting with this camera for the last 3 years and you didn't even remember it...

You know what i got?
"So you think this new thing could actually help you take better pictures, huh? Just like your new golf clubs were supposed to help you shoot lower scores? and the new bowling ball was supposed to help you bowl higher scores? and . . . and . . . and . . . "
I just sat there and thought to myself, "Man, once we're married, I gotta start thinking of new reasons to buy new toys . . . I've obviously recycled this one too much"
;-) ;-) ;-)

Is B&H owned by Ritz/Wolf Camera? I saw a sign at the local Ritz store that said they have an exclusive on the Black DRebel.

They're right. I just remembered it wrong. They don't claim all lenses with a range scale have FTM; just "most USM lenses with range scale". Mea Culpa.

Yeah. No other store in that mall has them available. Expect that kind of claim from Ritz.
