Lack of FEC w/ 300D+420EX combo

Hi all -

This is the combo that I have, so will the lack of FEC really kill me? Is there a way around it . . . such as adjusting exposure compensation?

Just curious . . . my fiance will shoot me if she finds out that I want to spend more $$$ that's supposed to be going to our wedding. (she just doesn't understand how important it is for guys to have cool toys)

How do you get that?

Anybody have stories about the hacked firmware screwing up your camera? If so, is there a way to get the original firmware back on it?

Read the sticky thread in this forum, it has all the info there. I think FEC is turned on automatically - if not someone will correct me :)

Edit - i've never heard of the firmware update breaking a camera, it was fine when I did mine.

The potential problems of the Rebel Hack are apparantly no different then installing any other firmware update. If you turn off the camera or the battery goes dead during an update, you have an expensive paper weight. Make sure that you start with a freshly charged battery or the AC adapter, and don't touch the camera once the update starts.

I was careful to follow the firmware update instructions, and it worked correctly. The hack is great and FEC is wonderful. I can't believe Canon dumbed down the stock Rebel as much as they did.

Yup, I too had the hack for months and it was awesome!
When I sold the Rebel, I went back to the original firmware, just like new!
