Just got hired for the biggest show I could think of right now..

Hi guys.. I know this is not a picture post, but I wanted to share this with my Canon crew!! I was just hired as the official photographer for SummerJam 2008!! http://www.hot97.com/summerjam It's New York City's Hot 97 and they shut down Giants Stadium every year for this concert!! I'm really excited. This includes all photos that will be eventually used by the station. DJ's, performers, and more. Backstage passes and the whole nine! Plus they just contracted me to do their jocks official headshots for the next few years!! This is extremely exciting for me. I just wanted to share.

you're funny mark.. it's going to be opened, and we'll be in the stadium. this is the 3rd of 4th one at the stadium so far.. 55 thousand screaming fans and the greatest hip hop, r&b, even pop entertainers of all time..

i guess this is how the meadowlands makes thier money during the off season..

I'm with ya there. So interesting how the concerts in the north differ from the south. So glad I live in the south. Good news though, have fun with it!

Congrats. Sounds like the big time. What type of rates does a gig like this pay?

$500 for the day. It would normally be much, much more (at least double), but I couldn't pass it up.. Plus I get credit, and I'm free to sell the photos if I want to other pubs because I own the rights. This will be covered by many of the pubs, so I could make out pretty good.

Thanks aravena... I'm not sure whether to take that as a complement or an insult. I grew in South Carolina in a town with less than 20,000 people and yes I do what the south can offer, and it's not the same. Neither in a better or worse way. I"m moving to Dallas later this year and I'm sure it's different there. Neither better or worse. But thanks for the congrats... I think:confused:

Naw, I just hate the mainstream hip-hop/rap and most of those artists, which is a term I use since everyone is familiar with it. Down south is just massive rock concerts more than anything all the time.

thanks a lot.. i can't wait.. it's next weekend. the station has a bunch of interns that they give D70s' to and don't know what the heck they're doing. so they want me to teach them the basics. it's cool.. they'll know how to use the camera and grow... that's what they're there for...
