Duotone, EOS 40D, 70-200 f/4L IS @ 200mm + 1.4x extender. 0.3s @ f/32.

The glasses are big (hold a pint) so needed tiny aperture to get all in focus, long focal length to compress the perspective. C&C welcome.

I like the concept, but is it too dark?

I agree, but it was shot in natural light in a room I did my best to dark-out -- I was shooting from about 5m away in a dark sleeping-bag. I had to seriously play with contrast and brightness to get the unwanted reflections out of the glasses. Now I know why most books advise glass to be always photographed with back-light.

Beautiful.. perhaps a tad dark due to the sides disappearing into the background. However I like that! :)

Thanks. The only picture I could get with a bit more brightness was much closer:

same lens etc, but 1s @ f/45

I think I prefer the implied shapes in the first one more though.

Agreed, I like both, but the first is more interesting.

I like the first one...and the darkness gives it a specific feel to the photo.

Thanks. This had been the (much brighter, more conventional lighting) starting point for the pictures:

as above, but 1/4s @ f/8

I definitely think the darker version is the more interesting one.

So do I, it was a lot more hassle to take though... ;)
