Any more news on the 10 - 22???

I haven't heard much more about the new super wide zoom, nor have I seen it listed at B & H etc........Has anyone got one latley? If so how is it?

I received mine last week (from Simons Camera in Montreal, QC).

Haven't had too much time to shoot with it, but my initial impressions and test shots around the house have been very positive.

Reasonable size and weight, images look good taking into account the tremendous angle of coverage.

I am hoping PTlens will offer a profile for this lens soon; there is no getting away from some distortion at the extreme wide end.

However, it does things that no other lens can do on a APS-C camera and I am looking forward to getting some landscape shots over the Holidays.

I got mine last Friday morning from Camera Canada. I shot a commercial job with it later that afternoon and was pretty pleased with the results. I use the Canon Wireless TTL system and I did pick up some flare with an off camera flash that I had set up too close to the edge of the frame. I had a number of shots where the light stand was just a little farther aways and there was no flare, so I think it was my fault not the lens.

PTLens has had the profile available for a few weeks now. You should be able to download the profiles from their site. In any case PTLens didn't affect it as much as I would have thought.

There's a site http://inertia-llc.com/sandbox/tests/canonefs10-22/10-22ppanotest-qt.html where they indicate how they've setup their 10-22 mm shots in Photoshop CS's RAW setting. I tried both PTLens and this setup and although it's early days the Inertia site information looks very useful.

I'm hoping to do more shots with the lens this week if the weather here cooperates. I really want to see what it'll do when I use middle apertures and a tripod mounted camera. Then I'll know something.

I downloaded the new profiles along with the latest updated version from the PTLens site.

It's great that Thomas has made this program freeware.
