What do you folks think about buying photo equipment, including fairly expensive lenses/cameras, through Amazon.com as opposed to going through the big merchants such B&H, Adorama, Calumet, etc.?

There is a fairly pricy piece of equipment I saw which is selling new on Amazon.com for significantly less than B&H has it up for, and the vendor is simply listed as Amazon.com, LLC.
Comes with standard Canon 1 year warranty (US).

Safe? Risky? Do tell.

I have purchased a number of big ticket photography items through Amazon and have been extremely satisfied, in fact I used them pretty much exclusively, due to the no shipping charge policy, until I joined NAPP whose members get free shipping from B&H.

You're kidding!!! How do you indicate this to B&H?
Thanks for the Reply and the education.

If you are a NAPP member the home page has a B&H icon, merely click on this and it takes you to B&H online. You are then reconized as a NAPP member and no shipping charges are placed. Great benefit to NAPP membership.

I'm hoping to be taking a long hiatus from purchasing (yeah, right) - but see that 500/4L IS in my sig? That little sucker set me back a bit...way back.
This is a bad addiction. But cheaper than collecting cars, I s'pose. :p
