Ok, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but no matter how carefully I pre-size my image, Mpix always wants to crop out more than I believe it should. I've been testing it all morning with one image, and through modifying the resolution and minor croping I as able to get it to 7 x 5.107 however Mpix still wants to crop out a portion of the image.

At no time did I change the proportions of the image.

Any idea what I did wrong?

How did you crop? The most accurate way is to set the Marquee tool to Fixed Size of 1500x2100 for 5x7 @ 300 DPI. There are other ways, like using the crop tool or marquee tool set to Aspect Ratio of 5x7 and then resizing, or using the crop tool to set 5x7 and set 300 DPI and this will crop & resize with one click.

Be aware that many printers will crop a small portion for some unknown reason. An old discussion here found several people with that issue. But the crop was only several pixels, or 3% as one person was told by the lab.

Also, if you're cropping to 7 x 5.107 then the lab will be forced to crop to 5 x 7 and you will lose some control.

This tutorial on Cropping may help a bit: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34567&highlight=cropping

This is exactly what they're doing. Even when I use the Marquee tool to set it to 1500x2100 for 5x7 @ 300 DPI they still snip a tiny amount. I guess I'll just have to live with it.

Thanks for the info on the Marquee tool!
